Delivery Format:
Courses are offered online and in directed study formats. Online courses are typically 12 weeks in length. Designated directed study courses are available only to doctoral learners in the Schools of Business and Technology, Education, and Human Services. Directed study courses, in which learners work one-to-one with a faculty tutor, are offered quarterly.

Technical Requirements:
PC with Windows 98/Windows ME operating system, 1GHz processor; 256 MB of RAM; minimum requirement of MS Internet Explorer 6.0, Netscape 6.2; at least 56K modem connection; unique e-mail address; word processor; sound card and speakers; and video card and monitor display capable of at least 800x600 pixel resolution.
Geographic Restrictions:
International applicants must have attended an internationally recognized institution. Applicants for whom English is not a first language must provide evidence of English proficiency. To demonstrate English proficiency, applicants are required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. A TOEFL score of 550 or higher on the written exam or a score of 213 on the computerized exam, with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), is required for admission.
International applicants residing outside the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands are not eligible for acceptance into programs requiring supervised clinical internships or practica within the Schools of Human Services and Psychology.
Scholarships Offered:
Capella has three scholarship options available. First, Capella offers some internal scholarships to learners, such as the Robert C. Ford Human Services Scholarship and the Helene Krivosha Scholarship. Second, learners are encouraged to apply for external scholarships that are offered specifically to Capella learners, e.g., the Go the Distance Scholarship. Third, free scholarship search engines are available to learners.
Loans Offered:
Capella participates in several federal financial aid programs including the Federal Pell Grant Program and Federal Stafford Loan Program. Capella is also eligible to certify Veterans Educational Benefits and can provide information on other non-federal loan programs.
Veterans' Educational Benefits
Capella University is approved by the Minnesota State Approving Agency for veterans' educational benefits. Eligible learners may apply for benefits by calling the Veterans Administration (VA) Office for assistance at 1-800-827-1000. The original application should be mailed to Capella University's Office of Financial Aid.
