Two leading educational institutions, the University of Guelph and Athabasca University, have teamed up to offer the world's first electronically delivered MBA focused uniquely on agriculture. The MBA in Agriculture offers students the opportunity to study with other producers and agribusiness professionals - to take full advantage of a wide range of agricultural expertise and experiences - and to provide a custom-made network. The program is structured as a sequence of phases.

This program is delivered entirely online with one weekend and a one week residential school attendance required (schools throughout Canada and several international locations available). Athabasca University is a full member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the International Council for Distance Education, and the Canadian Association for Distance Education. In June 2002 the University was awarded candidacy status for US accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Purdue University EMBA in Food and Agricultural Business (EMBA)
The program is aimed to further develop the managerial abilities of future leaders in the food and agricultural industries. This program is an innovative partnership between Purdue's Krannert Graduate School of Management and School of Agriculture. Both organizations are world leaders in their respective areas, and this joint program brings the very best resources of each to program participants. The EMBA offers an innovative alternative to the traditional part-time executive MBA in its focus on the unique management challenges of the food and agricultural marketplace, and the use of distance education technology that allows participants to pursue their degree while maintaining on-going responsibilities in their respective organizations. A total of 9 weeks of residency are required over this two year program.
